The curse
We have had three homes and they all have one thing in common: unusual neighbors.
House number one:
Unusual character, obviously not all there, but seemed to be kind-hearted. He would knock on the door around 2am asking for cigarettes, or just find some in our ashtray outside. He told fabulous stories about when he met the Rolling Stones, behind our house, were they were holding a concert. Stories about bare-assed beaches and flying Japanese cars. Unfortunately, one day he went too far: we came home to the SWAT team combing the area around his house and ours. No one was hurt, but he was moved from the 'hood.
House number two:
Not as dramatic as house number one, but still woke us up to the fact that there are just too many people not confirming to the norm*, and that will result in us always living next to one that doesn't. We found our next door neighbor at 9am in his yard with a shot gun and alcohol on board. His dog, a 15 yr old rottweilier, had gotten skunked, so he was out there hunting...skunks. It was a real tragedy when his mother finally kicked him out of the basement and he had to find a new home. I have to admit I missed the flowers, and bulbs he used to bring us. He got them free from the graveyard were he worked.
House number three:
The first day here in our current house, Neckbone looked around the neighborhood and jokingly said: "I wonder were the crazy one lives?". Unfortunately, and again, the answer is...right next door. This one is the worst. The other two were nice- unusual, but nice. This one is not. We have had the police called on us twice. She accuses our cable guy of crimes in the neighborhood, and of peeing from the telephone pole. She has called the police on all of her closest neighbors for reasons such as: parking in front of her house, putting a stick (to hold up tomatoes) next to her neighbor’s fence, BGE cutting down tree branches around electric lines, children being too loud, children playing with sparklers... it goes on and on.
Do I realy want to move again? Next stop is Iceland því heima er best, and the po-po ain't armed
*I am in no way qualified to label anyone or anything as "not conforming to the Normal Behavior of society" I am just following my feelings.
